The enhanced transnational exchange of goods and services in the globalised world, and especially in the integrated Europe, has prompted the legal systems to increasingly interact. The judicial cooperation among state courts is the crucial manifestation of this process. The Conference Judicial Cooperation among State Courts in Europe and the U. S.: a Comparative Approach, jointly organized by the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, the Dwight D. Opperman Institute of Judicial Administration of the New York University School of Law and the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union, focuses on the analysis of possible modes of this cooperation and, in particular, scrutinizes the developed model of cooperation in the US set against the European one. Starting off with presentation of various modes of collaboration among state courts resulting from initiatives of the involved actors (i. e. judges) and those from the construction of legal systems, the themes covered will include impediments to judicial cooperation stemming from constitutional and other sources as well as governance models of judicial cooperation viewed from the US and European perspectives.
